David Dixon, FAIA, will participate in Houston’s 2026 State of Downtown on October 29, 2026, joining a panel examining how cities and workplaces can respond to the needs of a multigenerational workforce.

Hosted by Central Houston, Inc., the annual gathering brings together business and community leaders, elected officials, and downtown stakeholders to discuss Downtown Houston’s progress and future.

Four Generations, One Future

The featured discussion, “Four Generations, One Future: Designing Workplaces and Cities That Work for Everyone,” will explore how generational differences influence expectations for work, community, and urban life.

Dixon will join fellow panelists Elizabeth Brink, Co-CEO and Principal at Gensler, and Justin Steele, Chief Learning and Talent Officer at Chevron. The program will examine the connections between workplace strategy, urban experience, organizational culture, and cities’ future competitiveness.

“The future of downtown depends on more than what happens inside the office. Walkable neighborhoods that bring together housing, workplaces, public spaces, and everyday amenities can connect people across generations and give them more reasons to spend time downtown.” — David Dixon, FAIA

Connecting Workplaces and Urban Life

Dixon will bring an urban design perspective informed by his extensive work helping cities and suburbs create vibrant, walkable, mixed-use communities. His participation will connect the discussion of changing workplace needs with the broader challenge of creating downtowns where people want to spend time, build relationships, and participate in community life.
